LGBTQ EA Annual Elections

We are currently soliciting nominations for Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and three Members at Large. For information on Officer Duties, please see below.

Qualifications include being an active member of the LGBTQ Employee Alliance for at least six months, a current City of Phoenix employee and in good standing with the organization.  The term of the office will be one year beginning on July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.

Candidates running for the Vice President position are advised that there is a three (3) year commitment with the position.  Successful candidates will serve as Vice President in year 1, President in year 2, and Immediate Past President in year 3.

If you are interested in any of these wonderful positions, please email your nomination indicating your desired position(s), a head shot and a bio (up to 150 words), describing who you are and why you are the perfect candidate to Chris Christensen at chris.christensen@phoenix.gov.  A ballot will be created with your bios, head shot and sent out for member voting.

Officer Duties

Vice President: The Vice President shall assume the duties and possess all the powers of the President when the President is absent or otherwise incapable of discharging the duties of the office. In the event of a vacancy in the office of President, the Vice President shall assume the office of the President.  The Vice President shall monitor the activities of all the committees.

Secretary: The Secretary shall advise the membership of all Board of Directors and membership meeting dates and locations. The Secretary shall be responsible for preparing agendas for and maintaining minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Quarterly Membership meetings. Additionally, the Secretary shall attend to all necessary correspondence and perform such duties as assigned by the President and/or the Board of Directors. The Secretary should submit to the President and the Board of Directors the original minutes of all meetings not later than 10 calendar days following the meeting. The minutes of the meetings should also be posted on the LGBTQ-EA Website within 15 calendar days of the meeting.

The Secretary shall record the vote of the Board of Directors on all matters decided at any time other than regular or special meetings of the Board of Directors and shall present such record at the next regular Board of Directors meeting for entry into the minutes. The Secretary shall be responsible for storing the official LGBTQ-EA mailing lists, such as the e-mail distribution list maintained and provided by the Communications Committee.

The Secretary and/or his/her/their designate shall manage the nominations of the appointment of vacant Board positions.

Treasurer: The Treasurer shall receive all funds of the LGBTQ-EA and shall pay such monies as are authorized by the President and/or the Board of Directors. The Treasurer shall bank all funds of the LGBTQ-EA with the financial institution approved by the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors shall set a budget for the LGBTQ-EA‘s fiscal year no later than the August meeting.  The Treasurer shall keep accurate records of the LGBTQ-EA‘s financial transactions and reports on the finances of the LGBTQ-EA monthly to the Board of Directors. The financial reports shall be audited by a member in good standing, who is not on the Executive Board, selected by the Board no later than September 1 of each year for the prior fiscal year.

Members at Larqe: The three elected Members at Large shall communicate and promote the goals and objectives of the LGBTQ-EA and provide advice and counsel to the President and the Board of Directors in the direction of the organization.
