LGBTQ Film Series Program Description – Summer 2023:
The Phoenix LGBTQ Employee Alliance continues its partnership with Burton Barr Central Library with producing a program featuring a series of award-winning films that showcases the experiences of the LGBTQ community. Our goal is to create a diverse film series that educates, entertains, and offers the viewer an opportunity to experience the challenges and triumphs firsthand. The series will highlight the artistic contributions both nationally and internationally of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender films and filmmakers.
Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no in-person film screenings and discussions. The program has changed its format to a virtual platform where the featured film is viewed prior to the event where the film and subject matter is discussed.
The Phoenix LGBTQ Employee Alliance is committed in its mission to provide platforms, candid conversations, and resources to educate, empower, and unite employees around championing equality as well as to create awareness in the city about LGBTQ culture and history.
In addition to the largest collection of books, DVDs, CDs and other materials in the Phoenix Public Library system, Burton Barr Central Library has many unique resources, including: hive @ central, College Depot, MACH1, Rare Book Room, @Central Gallery, Arizona Room, Foundation and Grants Collection and Government Resources.
