A couple items to take note:

  • Department Head Signature is no longer required.  The Human Resources (HR) Director has been authorized to sign on behalf of the department directors.

As a way to show our appreciation for renewing your membership, we will send you a Phoenix LGBTQ Employee Alliance face mask.  The face masks are adjustable with six colors to choose from.   Please fill out the face mask form and return it with your renewal paperwork.  If you already sent in your renewal paperwork, please let Keirsten know this when sending in your face mask form.

We are putting together another order of face masks and if you want to purchase additional masks, please contact email us at phx.lgbtq.ea@phoenix.gov or contact Chris Christensen at chris.christensen@phoenix.gov.

The Phoenix LGBTQ EA has several working committees members can join. These committees work hard to accomplish the Alliance’s mission. These committees typically meet once a month for an hour to organize upcoming projects, programs, and events.  Please consider joining one or more of these committees. Get involved today!

Communications Committee: This committee handles all digital communications, social media, and branding through electronic and written material. This includes producing the LGBTQ Employee Alliance Newsletter, and maintaining/updating the LGBTQ Employee Alliance Website, coordinating event registrations, creating event flyers, updating our Facebook page, and responding to correspondence received by the phx.lgbtq.ea@phoenix.gov email inbox.

Membership Committee: The membership committee develops and implements a strategy to recruit and retain new members. This includes staffing our recruitment table in the lobby of City Hall near the employee entrance during the lunchtime hours, speaking at various departmental New Employee Orientation meetings, and sending reminder emails to past members asking them to rejoin the LGBTQ EA in the new fiscal year.

Professional Development Committee: This committee’s priority is to educate our members through professional development programs designed to enhance and awareness and improve the workplace to be more inclusive of the LGBTQ community. This includes scheduling and leading our Film Discussion series, arranging our professional and educational brown bag lunches, learning opportunities, decorating the City Hall Atrium and Burton Barr Library lobby to increase awareness, career enhancements and our mentoring program.

Community Outreach & Networking Committee: This committee organizes all LGBTQ Employee Alliance professional networking and social events and organizes our participation in LGBTQ events such as the Phoenix Pride Festival, Rainbows Festival, AIDS Walk Arizona. The committee also arranges for volunteering opportunities at local non-profit organizations such as St. Mary’s Food Bank, One in Ten, and GLSEN.

Pride Parade Committee: This committee helps organize the city’s entry in the Phoenix Pride Parade.
