Each year between November 13 – 19, people and organizations around the country participate in Transgender Awareness Week to help raise the visibility about transgender people and address issues members of the community face. The Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is observed annually on November 20th to memorialize those who were murdered due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice.
To celebrate and help raise the visibility of transgender people, an exhibit was created by the Phoenix LGBTQ Employee Alliance to help educate the public about transgender people, ways to support trans youth and some of the issues the transgender community face. Also included is a memorial that honors the memory of the transgender and gender non-conforming individuals whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence this year; 2021 being the deadliest year recorded.
