Film Discussion: The Last One: Unfolding the AIDS Memorial Quilt

The Last One: Unfolding the AIDS Memorial Quilt
The Last One explores the history of the AIDS epidemic in America through the story of the AIDS Memorial Quilt. Originally created in the 1980s to raise awareness of the disease, the Quilt now highlights the disproportionate impact of HIV on the African American community, particularly women and youth. The film follows founder Cleve Jones and others involved with the Quilt, sharing personal stories of stigma, discrimination, and the ongoing fight for better care. As the Quilt travels across the country, it educates diverse communities, including a high school where a young African American woman born with AIDS speaks out against stigma. With over 1 million Americans living with HIV, The Last One urges continued awareness, especially as new infections among young people rise.
